I create art because it quiets the world around me. It gives me rest. I choose to show my work to the world because it might inspire someone who didn’t think they could to try and be imperfect and find joy in it – just like me. If my work makes someone smile or if it adds colour to their space, then I smile.
I write because I have a voice. I write for children because I want to inspire them to have a voice. I want parents to share and connect with their children and if my words can help them do that, I have done my job. If a teacher uses my words in her classroom, I have reached children and, in a small way, shown them that the world can be a colourful place -- that books are an escape -- that it’s ok to be still...sometimes.
